One Sunday in Brecon

Green hills, the little mountains of Brecon
Close to winding roads of the town.
Such a charming little cathedral there
And lots of people for the Sunday morn.

Look you now, there's a patient white goat
In his dress uniform, attention, smartly still.
He waits for the soldiers of Wales's Royal Regiment.
The re-union service about to begin.

What a service it was, standing room only!
A military band all brass bugles, the organ
Our choir, time honoured hymns and then
Howells “Te Deum” and Ireland's heart breaker “Greater Love"

They had a good week we heard, tho'
Beset with a virus (and a "green" steak!).
On Monday, no clergy so, undaunted,
Our choir did the service themselves!

It was great to see them and also old friends
Re-joining to sing as “All Saints" once again.
Evensong certainly "let all the people sing"
It was a very “Smart" tribute, well done.

Some of us sneaked in on the delicious tea
And heard the request “Do come back again"
Then, sadly, it was all packed up and over
And everyone drove away home.
